Economic and Security Council

ECOSOC (the United Nations Economic and Social Council) is one of the six main organs of the United Nations and plays a central role in promoting international economic and social cooperation and development. It is responsible for coordinating the work of the UN's specialized agencies, functional commissions, and regional commissions, as well as facilitating dialogue on critical issues related to sustainable development, poverty eradication, and human rights. ECOSOC also serves as a platform for civil society engagement and provides guidance and recommendations on global development policies and programs.

Meet your chairs

Eden Dill

Eden Dill is currently a sophomore at the University of Texas at San Antonio majoring in Microbiology & Immunology. She has been participating in Model United Nations since her freshman year of college and has found it to be an engaging and informative activity. As her area of study does not frequently overlap with the content in MUN she really enjoys the opportunity to expand her knowledge and learn more about the world of diplomacy. Her plans are to eventually become engaged in both the world of global affairs and biology by focusing on epidemiology. Her dream is to work with the World Health Organization!

Allison Martinez

Allison is a junior studying political science and a minoring in economics. She grew up in Mexico and holds those memories deep into her heart. Growing up in Mexico imbedded her interest in international relations and economy. She joined Model UN during her first year at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She wishes to work someday at the embassy, be a policy maker, or be a part of the department of state as a foreign affairs officer, focusing on relations between the United States and Mexico.
