Meet your chairs

Maria Sierra

María Sierra is a current senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio majoring in Global Affairs and minoring in economics. She has participated in UTSA’s Model UN society since her sophomore year and has held a position each year of being in the society including social media coordinator and secretary general. She has participated in several Alamo Model UN Conferences and went to National MUN in New York with UTSA. She is passionate about Model UN and learning more about diplomacy and negotiations. Her dream is to represent the United States in ECOSOC!

Ruslan Shukurov

Ruslan Shukurov is studying Accounting as a junior transfer student. Previously, he has studied in the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan. His Model UN journey started in high school and continued in UTSA. While pursuing a career in the public accounting industry, Ruslan still remains interested in and enjoys exploring international politics, economics, military conflicts, diplomacy, and the United Nations. He also plays tennis, writes poetry and is currently learning French. After bachelor’s at UTSA, Ruslan plans to pursue a master’s degree in accounting, start his career in public accounting and eventually continue his studies in economics.
